At BrightStart, we believe learning should feel like joy — not pressure. We’re here to give your child a bright beginning, filled with love, discovery, and growth.
Over these 30+ years in the field, my passion has never changed. I am truly blessed to continue serving families and being a part of their children’s lives.
Childcare has always been my passion. I became a licensed babysitter at just 13 years old. By my early 20s, I was volunteering at the YMCA’s afterschool program, where I served for two years. In 1997, I landed my first job at a childcare center as a school-age assistant. Over the next six years, I advanced to preschool assistant, toddler assistant, and eventually lead toddler teacher.
When that center closed, I transitioned to a new center and continued working as a lead toddler teacher for three years. Wanting to grow further in the field, I earned my CDA in preschool and became certified in 2005.
In 2010, I launched my own in-home daycare as a Type B provider, caring for just six children at a time. As the need grew, I expanded to serving up to 40 children in a full 24-hour, 7-day-a-week program.
In 2017, I opened a licensed Type A center, caring for up to 80 children each week. During the 2020 pandemic, I started my first small early preschool, BrightStart, with my oldest son. By the end of 2021 and into 2025, I opened two more centers—Creative Kidz Connection with my best friend, and Unique Kidz Care Learning Center.
Each center serves a unique purpose:
Letha’s Kids Care offers a home-away-from-home feel for families who prefer small group care.
BrightStart Early Preschool supports families looking for a structured small-group learning environment.
Creative Kidz Connection is a larger center that uses a developmental approach, helping children grow at their own pace.
Unique Kidz Care Learning Center, our largest program, was designed for children with developmental delays, ADHD, ADD, and other diagnoses. We’re currently developing a special sensory room to support our children with unique developmental needs.

BrightStart Child Learning Center is a nurturing early preschool and daycare program committed to fostering a love for learning from the very beginning. Founded by Mrs. Aletha Whitfield and Mr. Rahsheed Moore, BrightStart is an expansion of Lethas Kids Care LLC and has been proudly serving families since 2010. In October 2017, we earned our Type A license, allowing us to support even more families with high-quality care.
At BrightStart, our mission is to promote growth through communication, engagement, and a developmentally appropriate curriculum. We implement weekly individualized educational goals designed to support preschoolers in every area of learning—from cognitive and social development to emotional and physical growth.
Our commitment to excellence has been recognized with a Gold rating through Ohio’s Step Up To Quality program— a reflection of the intentional care, professional standards, and educational practices we bring to every child’s experience. This distinction highlights our dedication to preparing children for future success in an environment where learning is joyful, consistent, and meaningful.
